4-Year-Old Fulton County Child Infected with West Nile Virus

ATLANTA -- WSBTV.com is reporting that a 4-year-old Fulton County child has tested postive for West Nile Virus.

It's the second case of the illness in Fulton County this season.

The patient has been treated and released from an area hospital.

"It is imperative that residents take precautions to protect themselves and their family members," said Dr. Steven Katkowsky, Director of the Fulton County Department of Health and Wellness.

Most humans contract West Nile Virus from infected mosquitos.

Doctors have confirmed cases this season in Gwinnett, DeKalb and Cobb Counties.
