In The News: So What Is Waterboarding?

The main thing that has been dominating the news this past week is the issue of Waterboarding. With the senate conducting confirmation hearings for a new Attorney General, this subject prove to be a point of major contention. Michael B. Mukasey (Attorney General Nominee) can't decide whether or not he believes that waterboarding is torture or not. Several experts including the Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain who himself was tortured while he was a POW, believes that waterboarding is torture. So I ask you [the reader] to view the following video and decide whether or not waterboarding is torture and do we as a country really want to go down this slippery slope. You may be asking yourself why should this subject be important to me, but you need to remember that we have a lot of men and women on the frontline overseas and would we want this done to our family members. When the great United States begins to engage in torture what does that say to the rest of the world? We need to decide who we are as a country and as a people.
