Missing Jackson State University Student: Latasha Norman

The father of missing Jackson State University student Latasha Norman was interviewed on MSNBC this morning.

During the interview Danny Bolden criticized the pace of the investigation into the disappearance of his daughter. He also said that race has played a role in the lack of national media attention on Norman's disappearance.

Norman's father and mother, Patricia Bolden, have been in Jackson since reporting her missing last week.Her parents last talked to her Nov. 12 and she was last seen leaving a class around 2:30 p.m. the next day.

Norman worked her regular shift at this craft store in north Jackson Monday night and was scheduled to work Tuesday afternoon but never showed up. Investigators believe she was last seen on campus after class on the thirteenth.

"She never made it back to her dorm, she still have her book bag with her. She never made it to her car. It's bizarre," said Bolden.

Chief McMillin says officers are still following up leads, but so far nothing new has developed. Still, Norman's parents want her to know they aren't giving up.

"Tasha, we love you. You gonna be alright, baby. We love you, we love you Tasha, your coming home Tasha," said Patricia Bolden, Latasha's mother.

Jackson State is leading the investigation with the help of the Jackson Police Department and Hinds County Sheriff's Office. The Jackson office of the FBI is also assisting by looking through evidence hoping to generate more leads that might help.

Two accounts have been set up to support the family of Latasha Norman, 20-year-old accounting major from Greenville, Miss., who has been missing since Nov. 13.

The family opened the “Latasha Norman Family Relief Fund” at the Woodrow Wilson branch of the Trustmark Bank.

The Jackson State University National Alumni Association has placed a PayPal link on the JSUNAA Web site (www.jsunaa.com) to accept donations for the family.

"As we continue to pray for the safe return of Latasha, we are going to accelerate our financial, moral and physical support of the family during this ordeal,” said Hilliard Lackey III, association president.

Jackson State’s Accounting Society, of which Latasha is a member and Student Government Association representative, met Tuesday morning to establish a fund.

“We know that this whole situation has been a tremendous burden on Latasha’s family as well as the Jackson State family,” said Ambriel Woods, president. “The family hasn’t been back home and hotel, gas and other expenses add up. It can definitely be expensive.”
