...And Then There Were 2

With Sen. John Edwards announcing that he is dropping his presidential bid on the Democratic side, the race is officially a two person race (it had been a two person race for some time now, but no one had told Sen. Edwards that). This new development is going to make the debate in California (8 pm ET Thursday on CNN)before Super Tuesday all that more interesting. Although Edwards is not endorsing anyone right away, he does have 26 delegates to negotiate with. The fact that this race is coming down to a race for delegates puts Edwards in somewhat of a powerful position.

Here is what Sen. Obama had to say about his former rival:

"At a time when our politics is too focused on who's up and who's down, he made a nation focus again on who matters -- the New Orleans child without a home, the West Virginia miner without a job, the families who live in that other America that is not seen or heard or talked about by our leaders in Washington," (Source)

Here is what Sen. Clinton had to say about Sen. Edwards:

"John Edwards ended his campaign today in the same way he started it -- by standing with the people who are too often left behind and nearly always left out of our national debate," (Source)

I am a fan of John Edwards. I think his time to run was in 2004. History being made has a lot to do with the race on the Democratic side. John Edwards has great ideas and he would have made an excellent President. Hopefully whoever gets the nomination will consider making him a member of their cabinet because with Edwards at least you know he is for the common man.
