Barack Obama is the Projected Winner of South Carolina Primary

CNN is projecting Barack Obama as the winner of the South Carolina Democratic primary. Hillary Clinton and John Edwards are in a tight race for second place. More information to come.

YES WE CAN !!!!!!!

****UPDATE****

Hillary Clinton will come in second with John Edwards coming in third.
S.C. Exit Polls Results:

African-Americans: Obama 81%, Clinton 17%, Edwards 1%

African-American women: Obama 82%, Clinton 17%, Edwards 0%

Whites: Edwards 39%, Clinton 36%, Obama 24%

Edwards winning white men, Clinton white women.

Economy clear top issue.

Now for the people who are saying that Obama won only because of African American votes you need to check your facts. First of all, Obama beat Clinton 2 to 1. With 99% of the precincts reporting, he received 295,091 of the votes to her 141,128 votes (Source). This is not just African American votes.

Second of all, the electorate of South Carolina is 61% female. So this race was more about gender than race. Had she pull all of the women voters she would have won this primary handedly. His win shows that his candidacy can transcend race and that is something that needs to be paid attention to. Also a key factor is the fact that he basically tied her with White male voters.
