FEMA issuing out refunds for Toxin-filled trailers

The people of the New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast just can’t seem to catch a break. Now FEMA is issuing out refunds to people who bought their trailers after their initial use. The refunds are due to the concerns over high levels of toxins such as formaldehyde found in the trailers. If you are not familiar with formaldehyde it is the chemical used to preserve cadavers at medical schools.

FEMA said that 10,839 travel trailers and park models were sold by the federal General Services Administration at an average price of $6,936, and that 864 trailers were sold directly to hurricane victims.

The agency said it would e-mail buyers to notify them of the refund option. Buyers have 60 days to request a refund, FEMA said. (Source)

If you know someone in the gulf coast region and they are currently residing in a FEMA issued trailer that they have purchased please let them know about the refund. 60 days are not a very long time and someone who is in desperate need of this money may miss out on it because he/she doesn't have access to a computer.
