" Your Love is a Lion...walking on my Holy ground"......
-Nyee Moses
When one thinks of a journey, generally they are consumed with the distance rather than the progress. Seemingly, when reading a good book we tend to be more anxious with the outcome as oppose to enjoying the story. This is the one thing, as I mature in age and thought, that I find to be quite daunting, however in music their is usually one common goal amongst artist.....telling their story, and making the listener want to take the journey with them.
For this young woman hailing from Upstate New York, by way of Philiadelphia, in her self-titled album she has captivated us with her migration through a bevy of cultures and sounds, that would seem only befitting for this eclectic lover of world music. Though Latin, Jazz, Reggae, and even Hip Hop, are infused throughout this album, one thing that stands alone is the cohesive ability to tell a story. In her melodic smooth, often seductive voice, Nyee glides through this album offering a longing to turn the page in an on going tale of love and life. On the standout track, "Love is a Lion" she seems to embody the moment of senuality and passion with such ease and artistic freedom. With the Lead single "Between Us", the enchantement of the spanish guitars make you want to take a ride to lover's paradise only to dream of what will meet you when you get their.
At first listen, many will immediately draw comparisons to another soulful siren, Sade, however if you expect to just get a carbon copy, you would only be cheating yourself. Nyee (pronounced nigh-ee) has sat her sights on venturing into unknown territory. A sound that will satisfy any jazz enthusiasts as well as any lover of good music, this artist on the rise is taking that first step into creating a buzz that the world will soon learn about. For this Lioness only time will tell where this journey will take her.....perhaps standing on Holy Ground.

I've checked this sista out and she really does have a beautiful voice and a really different sound then what's out there now. She does remind me a little of Sade, but let's be real there is only one Sadde.
Oh I totally agree Mark, there is only ONE Sade. Always imitated, never duplicated ;-)
