Mary Ida Vandross, mother of my all-time favorite singer Luther Vandross, passed away yesterday. Mrs. Vandross had been in a coma due to complications from diabetes.
She was 82 years old.
May her soul rest in peace and may she get the opportunity to dance with Luther and his Father, again.

She was a beautiful woman. She had such a sweet smile and presence. I am so sad to hear about her passing, but I know she is complete with her husband and four children again. What a beautiful reunion. May God bless the rest of the family. Luther Vandross was my all-time favorite male singer.
My heart goes out to whats left of her family. Mary Ida Vandross was the sweetest person and mother. I truly hope and pray she is reunited with Luther, her husband and all of her children. God bless you Mary. Rest in peace.
My church family already have history with the Vandross family.
I was honor to usher at Mother Mary Vandross funeral and I enjoy talking and laughing with the great nieces and the family members.
I pray that the Vandross family continue to fellowship with us.
The Mother's board at the Mariners Temple Baptist Church will always miss her and pray for her until we meet again.
My Pastor was honor to be part of the homecoming for our Mother Vandross and we will continue to pray for the family.
May God be the glory and I will treasure the special memories with my church family.

Sunday, April 20th would have been Luther's 57th birthday. April 16, 2003 was one of the worst days of my life when I came home from work and found out he was in a coma. April isn't that good for the Vandross family, and I wish for Seveda Williams, all the rest of Luther's nieces and nephews, as well as his aunt Helen, to receive all the love and healing they need to get through this difficult time.

The beauty of life is knowing that death only conquers the body...the soul, the spirit is free.
Mother Vandross will dance again with her husband and her son, but she must first dance with her FATHER.
