The songbird known to most of the world as Aaliyah Dana Haughton will be gracing the Icon Issue of Fader Magazine. Aaliyah, who was tragically killed in a plane crash going on seven years ago, will be remembered by friends and family in the magazine. Here are some quotes of what people had to say about her:
Missy Elliott
"We was gonna save the world. We was gonna change music every chance we got. We was gonna always be family. Forever."
Mark Ronson
"If it wasn't for Aaliyah being the face and voice of [Missy Elliott and Timbaland's] sound they might have never got to where they did. They were presenting their sort of brilliant but challenging breakthrough music through this beautiful young girl who could sing it perfectly."
Kidada Jones
"I think about her all the time...Anytime she's brought up or her music comes on the radio, it’s sweet, but it definitely sounds like she found a niche before it was here. If you listen to her music it's so relevant today, but we had it so long ago."
Damon Dash
"She was already a fashion icon, she was getting into movies, she had already planted that seed. If she was alive today she would be so relevant. I see little bits of her everywhere I look, in a lot of artists."
This is what the executive editor of Fader Magazine had to say about Aaliyah"
"It only took Aaliyah a few albums to make an indelible mark on the world of pop music, but today her influence can be felt across numerous genres," said Chris Richards, Executive Editor of The FADER. "This issue not only tracks that influence, but also offers a more personal glimpse into the life of a true pop visionary."

RIP Baby Girl!!!

I cannot look @ a picture of Aaliyah and not wonder why the good always die young.
She had her entire life ahead of her. She could have touched the spirits of millions of people, in the most positive way.
RIP.
same with Don, I can't actually stand looking at the picture. If my memory serves me right, her last film was Romeo Must Die. She's really young then...
she has a very promising career back then and I like her, really! =(
AALIYAH HAD PASSED AWAY THE DAY BEFORE I TURNED 12 YEARS OF AGE. HOWEVER, I WASN'T THAT SAD FOR I ENJOYED HER MUSIC INCLUDING HER LAST CD SHE MADE BEFORE HER LIFE ENDED "AALIAYH"(2001).
HER DEATH WAS A TRAGIS DEATH BUT I CONTINUED TO LISTEN TO HER MUSIC AS IF SHE WAS STILL ALIVE MAKING HITS.
MANY PEOPLE REFER TO HER AS "AN ANGEL FROM GOD" SOMEBODY ON YOUTUBE HAD EVEN MADE A COMMENT SAYING THAT SHE WAS A "GOD" I FEEL THAT'S A BIT EXTREME FOR SHE WAS A HUMAN-BEING JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE.
I THINK THAT SHE WAS A GORGEOUS SINGER AND SHE KNEW HOW TO WORK HER STUFF.
I DO BELEIVE ITS MEDIA HYPE FOR PEOPLE TO CALL HER ANGEL ALTHOUGH SHE TOUCHED A LOT OF PEOPLE'S HEARTS.
ACCORDING TO MY POINT OF VIEW AND RESEARCH THAT I DID ON AALIYAH, SHE HAD HER STRUGGLES, SHE HAD MOMENTS WHERE SHE WAS DISCOVERING HERSELF, AND SHE WAS PERFECTLY HUMAN WITH MUCH BEAUTY AND TALENT.
I loved Aaliyah's music, her beautiful voice, and her wonderful dance moves. She was also a great actress. I just wonder sometimes, where would she be today? What would she be doing? A movie, perhaps? Another album? So many questions, that we will never have answered. I believe what made people fall in love with Aaliyah is how she was just so human. I know that might sound crazy, but so many celebs become divas or try to be anyway, and I just never saw her that way. She seemed as if you could just walk up to her and talk to her about anything. I enjoy looking at her pictures, old videos, movies, and listening to her music today, as I did when she was alive. It does make me sad, but I realize that we are the luckiest people in the world. Why? Because we were blessed to live during the time she did, and we were blessed to see her in action. Just think, so many people that were born after her death will only know of her from our memories and the stories we share. God bless you Aaliyah, and may your beautiful soul rest in peace. :)
